About Financial Disclosure Statements
A Financial Disclosure Statement (FDS) is required to be filed with the Secretary of State by all state and local Elected officials and Appointed public officers by January 15 of each year they are in office. Failure to file such a form may result in a civil penalty. (NRS 281.581(3)).
Judges are required to file a FDS with the Administrative Office of the Court (AOC).
There are three types of Financial Disclosure Statements: Annual, Appointment, and Candidate.

JUDICIAL FDS
Each justice, district court judge, limited jurisdiction judge, municipal court judge, senior justice, and senior judges in Nevada are required to file the Judicial Statement of Financial Disclosure.
The Judicial Statement of Financial Disclosure is a public document and filed with the State Court Administrator at the AOC. You may find additional information regarding the filing of the Judicial Statement of Financial Disclosure in the Nevada Revised Code of Judicial Conduct and (NRS 281.561) and (NRS 281.571).
Sitting justices, judges and senior judges are required to file their Statement of Financial Disclosure on or before March 31st, for the proceeding calendar year of the judge's term.

ANNUAL FDS
The ANNUAL FDS is due not later than January 15th and covers the preceding calendar year (NRS 281.559(1)(b)) & (NRS 281.561(1)(b)). This must be filed by the following public officers:
- All public officers holding an elected office, regardless of salary
- All public officers holding a non-elected office and whose annual salary is $6,000 or more
- All state legislators
APPOINTMENT FDS
The APPOINTMENT FDS is due not later than thirty (30) days after the public officer's date of appointment (NRS 281.559(1)(a)). This must be filed by the following public officers:
- All public officers (NRS 281.559(1)) appointed to an elected office who are entitled to receive $6,000 or more annually
- All appointments to the state Legislature
- All public officers (NRS 281.559) appointed to fill the unexpired term of an elected or appointed public officer
CANDIDATE FDS
The CANDIDATE FDS is due not later then ten (10) days after the end of candidate filing and covers the preceding the calendar year plus January 1 of the current year through the last date of candidate filing (NRS 281.561(a)). This must be filed by the following public officers:
- All candidates defined by (NRS 281.558(2)) seeking public office who are entitled to receive $6,000 or more annually
- All candidates for the office of state Legislator
- All public officers previously elected to the office they are serving (e.g. incumbents) regardless of salary
- All judicial officers appointed to fill an unexpired term of a predecessor or to fill a newly created judgeship pursuant to the Revised Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct
PENALTY FEES per NRS 281.581:
If the statement is filed not more than 10 days after the applicable deadline = $25.00
If the statement is filed more than 10 days but not more than 20 days = $50.00
If the statement is filed more than 20 days but not more than 30 days = $100.00
If the statement is filed more than 30 days but not more than 45 days = $250.00
If the statement is not filed or is filed more than 45 days after the deadline = $2,000.00
For good cause shown, the Secretary of State may waive a civil penalty that would otherwise be imposed pursuant to this section.
