Qualifications
An individual wishing to engage in the business of a document preparation service must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States or hold a valid Employment Authorization Document,
- Be at least 18 years of age,
- Not be currently suspended or have been disbarred from the practice of law in any jurisdiction,
- Not have had a document preparation service registration previously revoked in this State or another state,
- Not have been previously convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty, guilty but mentally ill or nolo contendere to, a gross misdemeanor pursuant to paragraph (b) of subsection 1 of NRS 240A.290,
- In the 10 years immediately preceding the date of application:
- Not been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty, guilty but mentally ill or nolo contendere to, a crime involving theft, fraud or dishonesty;
- Not been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty, guilty but mentally ill or nolo contendere to, the unauthorized practice of law in any jurisdiction;
- Not been adjudged by a court to have committed an act involving theft, fraud or dishonesty.
Registration applies to an individual, not a business. Should there be more than one individual in a business conducting document preparation services, each person must register.
