Fingerprinting for Investigation of History of Applicant
Attention: The following information and forms for submitting fingerprints for investigation of history of an applicant are for use by applicants for registration as a Document Preparation Service only. For all other purposes, contact the Nevada Department of Public Safety at (775) 684-6262 or visit rccd.nv.gov.
All applicants for registration as a Document Preparation Service must submit a complete set of fingerprints for a State and Federal background investigation to the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History. As part of the application, an applicant provides a waiver for the Nevada Secretary of State to receive these reports.
There are two costs for fingerprinting. The fee for taking fingerprints is set by the authorized fingerprint service and those fees vary. The Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation charge a fee for processing the background investigation. That fee is posted at rccd.nv.gov.
Fingerprint Process
1. Select an approved LiveScan fingerprint site from the Nevada Department of Public Safety approved list of fingerprint services. Click here for Department of Public Safety Records, Communications and Compliance Division, then go to “Fingerprint Information,” then select “Private Fingerprint Sites” for the list of approved fingerprint services submitting electronically to the Department of Public Safety. If there is no LiveScan fingerprint service in your area, contact this office for instructions on submitting fingerprint cards.
2. Complete and print a Fingerprint Request Form and a Fingerprint Background Waiver and bring with you to the LiveScan fingerprint service. The LiveScan service must see your completed Waiver, will verify your identity by photo ID, and will complete and sign the Fingerprint Request Form. Both forms will be returned to you.
3. Mail or deliver both the Fingerprint Request Form and Fingerprint Background Waiver, completed and signed, to:
