(Carson City, NV; December 14, 2015) – Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske has launched an official Twitter account – @NVElect – to provide up-to-date notices regarding filing deadlines and to share general information concerning the elections process in Nevada. The platform will be used to post notices regarding candidate filing, voter registration, campaign finance reporting, and other elections related deadlines. On Election Day, followers will be given current information on poll openings, poll closings, as well as real-time reporting of precincts.

The goal of the Twitter account is to increase the availability and accessibility of elections-related news in Nevada. “Twitter is a powerful and useful communication tool that reaches a broad audience - especially young people who, studies have shown, may participate in the election process at lower rates than other age groups,” said Secretary Cegavske. “The use of the account will enhance communication and outreach to voters, candidates, the media, and all other interested parties, as well as engage more people in the election process.”
